Transition simply means moving from Y6 to Y7. As with all things new, starting a secondary school can be a worrying time; however, it is also very exciting as there are so many new adventures ahead!
The transition process begins almost instantly after Year 6 children receive their school place. We work closely with secondary colleagues from all of the schools we feed to. The transition process is carefully planned and we ensure your child’s new school knows everything they need to know in order to hep support them in their journey. Teachers at Hillside speak to all the new Heads of Year 7 to ensure attainment and pastoral information is passed on to help your child continue to flourish.
During the Summer Term, the Year 6s get the opportunity to meet their new Heads of Year (HoY) at Hillside and then all are given the opportunity to spend some time at their new school on ‘transition day’. More recently, most Wokingham Borough secondaries hold this on the same day as each other. Some schools will have more than one day, this is down to each individual school to decide what is bast for their new pupils. Due to the unfortunate circumstances, this year, transition looks slightly different. Teachers have been communicating frequently with HoY to ensure all vital information has been passed on.
Below you will find links to the schools that our Year 6s move on to. We have contacted all secondaries to ask for as much information as they can provide. You may videos and information from the different school if it has been provided.
