Sport at Hillside
PE at Hillside is an important part of our School ethos. Being active and healthy is vital to aid good development. Children at Hillside enjoy 2 hours of timetabled curriculum PE a week. One session indoors; the other outside.
There is a wide range of sports taught across the Year Groups. Over the course of child's time at Hillside, PE lessons are designed to show clear progression,in order to continually develop children's skill- especially hand and eye co-ordination.
On top of Curriculum time, all children at Hillside are lucky enough to enjoy an additional 6-8 hours of PE during weekly Enrichment sessions, run by Get Active.
At Hillside, we are lucky enough to have the support of Mr Hughes and Get Active. Mr Hughes runs exciting enrichment sessions for all children across the school. An additional part of Mr Hughes' role is to help increase Hillside' participation in sporting competitions. Alongside Mrs Jewell, Mr Hughes organises sporting events. Different children are picked for these competitions and Mr Hughes then spends time training and preparing the children for the event.
Each month the Sports Captain organise a Sporting House Competition.
